Description
This was photographed at St Vladimir's Seminary in Crestwood, Now York in the course of a memorial service. The platter in the foreground contains a traditional boiled wheat preparation called koliva. Wheat is a traditional symbol of resurrection and of life.
Candles are used by Christians as images of Christ the Light who comes to save us in our dark world. Candles are statements of hope and faith and joy.
I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12)
